Progress and pics

As I've been posting. I have been very busy in the shop. Here are a few pictures of the progress I made this week. Today I had my helpers for about 6 hours, so that helped quite a bit. Last night's work cutlisting payed off, as it was "shear madness" today...ha ha. We burned through six 10ft sheets today, and will be ordering more on Monday.
7 finish pans with lids and trays
(4) 2x3 divided pans and preheaters
This one I was working on today. The seams are welded, and one divider in, the other still needs to be put in, but will be ready to ship hopefully Monday.

Exciting Friday night.

I had a few errands to run tonight, so I didn't work in the shop. I did spend a few hours cutlisting the 35 pans I hope to have welded this week. I'm praying that all goes smoothly. I will not be taking any more custom size orders until I get caught up. Its my layoff week coming up again, so I'm hoping to get a solid 10-12 hrs a day in the shop in.

On another note  I'm on Facebook now. You can search me under WEGNER METAL WORKS LLC. I thought it would be neat to add some of my customers as friends if they would like. Just to add some more personal contact. Maybe a little more informal than the blog or website. I've had several people comment on the pans, but didnt want to set up a blogger accounts. I'm thinking more people have Facebook accounts than blogger.

Update on pans

Sorry for no updates lately. I've been working 10-14 hour days between the shop and answering emails, shipping...etc. Yesterday I had a crew come and help in the shop. We made some serious progress. I'm just about caught up to a week ago. Its going to be a long week, as I'm working my regular job during the day and will be working late each night to keep the pace going.  Here are a few attempts at pictures in the photo shop. The back drops still need to be ironed so don't pay attention to that.

Wednesday progress...boring I know

I've been putting in some 10+ hour days trying to catch up on my week off. Yes, I am taking notes for next season. I will be more prepared.  I didn't take any pictures yesterday, but have a few from today. My helper was here today, so I got to weld ALL day. These pans are done, just need to be polished, prepped and packed.

Monday's progress

Well I opted for the later starting time but got a solid 10 hours in the shop today. My helper didn't come in today, so I spent some time shipping out 3 pans. I made good progress today, and ignored all emails until I was finished for the day. Here's some progress pics. I cant wait to unwrap a fully finished pan for some better pics.

They still need to be wiped down before shipment, but are ready to go.

Planning for this coming week

I'm making my plans for this week, and it looks very busy. I'm debating on either getting up at 4 a.m. and starting early or staying in the shop until 9 p.m. tomorrow. I'll let you know how that works out. I've been receiving quite a few orders and I assure you I will do all that is in my power to get these pans to you before the season starts.

On a seperate topic, I am going to Romania in June with our church to help build a dormatory/dining hall for their Bible institute in Timisora. It will be from June 4-12 and am really looking forward to going. I thank the Lord for using this business as a means to pay for the trip($1200),and Lord willing to help support another's trip.

I will post progress pictures of tomorrows progress in the evening.

Saturday in the shop

I got my new stainless in on Thursday. I sheared 28 pans worth of steel yesterday, and formed them all today. Talk about a long day. I couldnt help myself, so I had to tack one up. Then I decided I had to at least weld one side so I can see what the final product will look like. It looks great!! I'm really happy with how it turned out, it was worth it to me. I really have to be careful now, not to scratch anything on the inside, since both sides are polished. Here are some pics. I just have the two sides welded, the bottom is just tacked now.

New Stainless is in!!

Today I picked up my shipment of stainless sheetmetal. I'm using the 2ba finish now, which looks a lot nicer. Here's a couple sample pics of the finish. I will have one welded up tomorrow and post more pics. I'm  really looking forward to bumping up the look of my pans.  I also will be carrying stainless ball valves for the 1/2" draw offs. They will be $25, and can be added to any purchase for no additional shipping.

Updates

Yesterday I picked up 3 more sheets of steel, and a sheet of expanded metal( for filter trays). I'm using this as a bridge until I get my 304 2BA (bright annealed) stainless in. Its going to take about a week. I'm really looking forward to making these in a polished finish. Here are some comparison photos of 2b(currently using) and 2ba(on the way).

Mixed day

Well, today I ran out of sheetmetal, and can't pick more up until tomorrow morning. So today, I bent up what I had left, and worked on some website stuff. My website launched today http://www.wegnermetalworks.com/, and is under construction so please be patient. It will soon have the capabilites to checkout directly through paypal. We will be adding more products as I get better pictures taken of the products I am making. I still need to set up a photo shop to take some better pictures. I would like to thank Amos Davis for creating this site for me and doing it in a very timely manner.

First pan of the new year

Today I was making good progress.I boxed up two orders, and shipped three out. Did some coorespondence with my web designer about my website that should be launched in the short future. This 2x3 divided pan with preheater is my first pan to make in 2010, and is for Paul in MA. I started the preheater this last weekend, and had the pan formed also. Today I welded the rest of it up and started polishing. Tomorrow I'll finish polishing, leak test and hopefully package for shipment. I'll start making a small custom pan, and preheater for Chris in Maine.

Busy week ahead

Sorry for no pictures lately. With New Years and the weekend, I haven’t had time to upload anything. I’ve been keeping very busy in the shop. This week is my layoff rotation from my real job, so I will be putting some long hours in the shop. The weather has been cold, its been hovering at or below zero for the last couple days, so I’ll have to get up extra early to get it warmed up to a reasonable temperature. Stay tuned…… I’ll have some good pics tomorrow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
